Half true!

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

Negro Me

This is a self-portrait of me with the world’s thickest lip. To make it even funnier, I combined a super weird hairdo in replacement of my own hair. This whole drawing was done with charcoal.

Mural of Japanese Restaurant

This is my first mural painting even before the school assignment for Fuchun Primary school. My beloved lecturer - Rashid, introduced this job. It was a commissioned project requested by the boss of Hoshi Japanese restaurant. Although the pay was cut from $1500 to $1200 after me and my partner Kian an did our outline, which is pretty unfair, we both enjoy ourselves. It took us 3 full nights to complete it. Treat this as an experience and we believe there are more jobs to come.

Mural for Fuchun Primary School

The chosen theme for this mural was National Education. Core subjects such as mathematics and science have been incorporated into the design with a contemporary feel. As important as making subjects interesting and not to limit creativity, i included important value of students such as unity, discipline and care too. The style of this mural was based on reference artist - Keith Haring. His eagerness to experience with his artworks inspires me. Using combination of unconventional and abstract symbol, this mural design can have alot of different meaning intercept by different individual. Primary colours have been deliberately chosen as just like education is the core essence of a student.

Tanned Seahorse~

This is a tedious assignment similar to the sphere and the printmaking. It requires a lot of time and focus. Using different pen thickness, it can achieve many depths and volume. Sensitivity if use wisely in this assignment can create marvelous outcome

Muscularhino

Everyone claims that my rhino look muscular and fit. It was my first attempt in ceramic, definitely quite proud of myself. Making this 3D rhino needs a lot of molding, twisting and even slamming of the clay to prevent air bubbles that will lead to crack upon firing.

Tormenting Sphere

The whole process of making this 20cm sphere took me about 4 weeks to complete. The making of the 3D cubes itself already took up 80% of the time. It was a nightmare for me although I am quite satisfied with outcome of the sphere. Hollow but yet sophisticated.

The Bananarama!

This was my first group project! Wire-banana. Creating the bone structure of the banana was the first thing we did. Followed by coiling the thinner wire around the bone structure to create volume. Lastly, the skin of the banana was attached separately and the end product looks fantastic!!!! We even sold the wire banana for 50 dollars to a lecturer.

Childhood Memories

This printmaking assignment is a tough and tedious one. Not only you need to carve the right design on the right spot and ink with the right colour. The strength use to print the image on the paper must be of moderation too. This work requires to be done layer-by-layer, colour-by-colour. It was still a fun assignment even though it was a messy one.

Perspective Headache

Single- or one-point perspective is a simplest method of making objects look three-dimensional. Two-point perspective is slightly more complex, as both the front and back edges, and side edges, of an object must be diminished towards vanishing points. Three-point perspective is the one giving me the headache during the assignment, took me one whole day before i figured how to do it. It is usually used for buildings seen from above or from the bottom, which normally known as the “bird view”, and “ant view”.

Teddy Teddy and Family

Contour lines create volume and mass when applied in drawing. With all this contour lines, a simple 2D flat drawing can easily become 3 dimensional. Contour Drawing has boldness, fragility, simplicity and spirit, depending on it's purpose and outcome.

Crumpled Paper

This piece of artwork seems easy to do at the first glance, but it requires a lot of focus on the different toner value of the shading of the crumbled paper. Different shadings create different movements and depths on the drawing. It took me 2 days to complete this drawing.

Negative Space

Using negative spaces to show an object or scenery in a drawing was a new technique I learnt last year. Instead of shading the branches and leaves of this particular tree, I shaded the white spaces between them. Instantly, the shape of the tree became more prominent.

It's all about Charcoal

Charcoal makes you dirty and messy.
Charcoal can create a masterpiece too! This charcoal drawing not only require accurate proportion measurement, the blending of shading must be of proper techniques too.

A journey to remember

This is my second media project on shooting this 3 minutes video - A journey to remember. Being elected to be the director of this two short film gave me the opportunity to lead, to guide, to plan and basically to organize the whole filming process. I must say it was a tough one. First of all, due to the busy schedule and workload we have, it was not easy to find a date suitable for everybody. It was my job to think of a good script, to find the necessary props, to find the appropriate location for filming and the different role assigned to different members. I learnt a lot through this project. I learn to compromise, to be flexible and most importantly, leadership. I definitely look forward to the future media group project.

Seeing Nature in digital eyes

Photoshop is a programme whereby it needs alot of practice to familiarize it's function. This is my first project on collage using photoshop and personally i like it alot. There is alot of exploration done. In this picture, i would like to convey that nature of beauty not only lies in the appreciation of the human sight but the other four basic human senses too. The sight, sounds, taste, smell and touch your heart will feel.

Collages on interior space (Home)

Paper collage
Cloth collage
Mix media collage
Mix media collage
Mix media collage

These are some different experimental collages using different medias such as paper, plastic, cloth, texture paper and transparent materials. Some collages are done using individual media while others incorporates mix medias. For final touching up, I used acrylic paint to enhance better effects.l

Collage of self portrait

This is my first collage. After some reference from famous collage artist, i started to knock thin aluminium sheet flat, cutting them into the right shapes and combining them with other medias. I was not taught of collage in primary school nor secondary school. However, i am rather satisfied with the outcome.

My First A2 Painting

This is my first A2 painting on canvas using acrylic paint. As the artist reference for this painting is John constable, dull colour such as brown was used to create calmness and details were emphasized.

Colour Support for Exterior space painting

This 3 A4 size paintings are the colour supports for my second 2D assignment on exterior space. Different colours were used on each individual painting to create special mood and style.I need to explore the different effects and techniques before applying it to my final piece.

Study of different Eye Levels and Light Sources

Light source from the sun, items by the window
Light source from the right using lamp
Light source from the left using laptop light
Bottom view of objects
Side view of objects

The above few paintings were based on study of different light sources and eye levels. Certain paintings were painted under light from the sun, some from room lighting and even light from the laptop. Each individual eye level creates different perspective view.

Study of different colour tones

Opaque Achrome
Warm monochrome
Cool monochrome
Warm analogous
Cool analogous

This few paintings were from my first assignment in Lasalle-Sia. In total, we need to paint a set of still-life objects in 3 different views (Full colour), from 6 different light sources (Full colour), 1 transparent achrome, 1 opaque achrome, 1 warm colour monochrome, 1 cool colour monochrome, 1 warm colour analogous and 1 cool colour analogous. Above are some pictures of the different colour tones.

Record of the Lodoss war

This was the last sketch I did before school in Lasalle-Sia started. It was based on an animation known as the “Record of the Lodoss War”. As I do not have any art background back then, the only media I am familiarized with was pencil. As a result, all art works were done in pencil shading.

Christmas Present

This drawing was a Christmas gift to my boyfriend in year 2005. It took me one whole day to complete this A3 size picture. The media used was pencil while method was purely shading, smudging and blending.

Death Note 2

This is another sketch of Death note animation done with pencils. I actually cropped two separated images from different issues of the comics and combined them into one drawing.

Death note 1

This is one of my favourite sketches among all the animation drawings i have done before i came to Lasalle-Sia. I am happiest when creating art pieces that really bring out my core. This black and white art piece reveals the suppressed feeling i had then
